Is your energy drink clogging your arteries?

Is your energy drink clogging your arteries? Click the link to read full article

My protein scientist husband forwarded this link to me, AFTER checking every supplement and protein powder bag in our house for carnitine. Since we only use Arbonne supplements in this household, we were naturally in the clear! If you’re an omnivore like me then this is more important than if you are vegetarian or vegan. The compound to watch for is carnitine; present both in red meat and certain energy drinks it can lend itself to atherosclerosis (hardening/clogging of arteries).

Like with everything else, it is vitally important that we become conscious of everything we consume. Our health is our responsibility and it is our duty to take care of it in the best way we can so we can live the longest, healthiest lives we can for ourselves and our future generations. It’s no longer enough just to read carbohydrate, fat and protein content; its the ‘other ingredients’ that you really have to watch for. If you can’t pronounce it, it doesn’t deserve to be in your food or your skincare.

Carbon Neutral and Proud!

I got a box of products today and for whatever reason my eye wandered to the little label to the bottom right where it said Carbon Neutral Shipment so I went off to do some research!

I love what Arbonne does to reduce its carbon footprint as a company! Certified Carbon Neutral Read about how it’s partnered with UPS to fund carbon reducing projects worldwide!

Would You Like To Change Your Relationship with Food?

20130327-112051.jpg

Good morning Niki. I’m doing pretty well. I’ve had some slips but for the most part the program is changing how I eat – giving me a breaking point with past food behaviors. My belief is that in the long run this will help me in so many ways. I have more energy, I’m sleeping more soundly and longer. I know I have shrunk a bit – my friends have noticed in my face and in the middle. I’ve also received input that I just look healthy.

New Year New You

In a recent email to my list that I wrote about goal setting and the New Year, I issued a challenge:

What one single commitment can you make to yourself that we can promise to keep through the month of January into February (afterall it only takes 21 days to form a habit)?

I suggested making a list of the top three things that you wanted to accomplish this year and then outline the immediate next steps you need for only one of those three things and start to implement that. Start with the easiest so that there is a true sense of immediate accomplishment. (It might be as simple as remembering to drink more water throughout the day).

So here’s my incentive for you:

If you comment here, or on facebook or email me your single one thing that will help you raise your personal bar – something you’ve never done for yourself before and IF YOU STAY WITH IT through January (so 1/2/13 – 2/1/13) the first 5 of you who reach out to me will get a free gift from me and all of you will be entered into a drawing for $100 worth of Arbonne product.

These are some of the awesome responses I have had so far:

Me: Post at least one inspirational, thoughtful, fun, resourceful blogpost daily

Diane: I want to be a thank you note/card writer – I am committing to one a day

Deborah: My plan is to start a gratitude journal where I make a daily entry of at least three things I am grateful for and send a ‘thinking of you’ card to one person every month.

Donna: My goal is to run a 5K with my daughter, so I have begun the 10 minute trainer

Anne: I am going through old stuff 5 days a week and re-organizing old stuff or getting rid of them.

Rosemary: 20 minute daily meditation

Udie: write for 10-20 minutes daily

So will you join this little community of people who are committed to #RaisingTheBar?

I hope so, we’d love to have you!
